Last we saw of James Bond in Spectre, he took down Blofeld and took off with Madeleine Swann taking a break from his 007 duties. But the vacation will come to an end when a new enemy comes around and threatens Bond's retirement. This should be an epic battle as Daniel Craig goes out on a high note.

Here is everything you need to know about Bond 25.

All the big deals

Bond 25 Release Date

Bond 25 is set to come out on April 8, 2020. However, it has been a long road to that release date. After Spectre, director Sam Mendes departed and the project embarked on a long journey to find a director. Eventually Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 28 Days Later) came onboard and Sony set a November 2019 release date.

It was for naught as creative differences forced Boyle to drop out of the project in August 2018, further casting doubt as to whether or not Bond 25 with Daniel Craig would happen after all. Sony eventually selects Cary Joji Fukunaga to take up the helm for Bond 25 and settled on the April 8, 2020 date.

Bond 25 Cast

Most of the main cast see is returning for Bond 25, including Daniel Craig as James Bond, Ralph Fiennes as M and Naomie Harris as Moneypenny.

Though Daniel Craig is a part of the project, for a while after Spectre, it looked as if he might join Sam Mendes and depart the franchise as well. It took a lot of talking to Sony to get him to agree to return as James Bond. This will be Craig's fifth and final turn as the famed 007 spy.

Besides the main cast of returning stars, Bond 25 is adding two major new pieces. The first would be Rami Malek as the antagonist standing against James Bond. We don't know any details about which character who he will play, but we do know he carries on an illustrious legacy of Bond villains. The last two villains have been portrayed by Oscar-winning actors as well in Javier Bardem (Skyfall) and Christopher Waltz (Spectre). Malek fits right in with this group taking home the Best Actor Oscar earlier this year.

The other new addition is Blade Runner 2049's Ana de Armas. Her role is also being kept under wraps.

  • Daniel Craig as James Bond
  • Rami Malek in unspecified role
  • Ralph Fiennes as M
  • Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny
  • Léa Seydoux as Madeleine Swann
  • Ben Whishaw as Q
  • Ana de Armas in unspecified role
  • Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter
  • Lashana Lynch in unspecified role
  • David Dencik in unspecified role

Beyond the cast, the other major change is Cary Joji Fukunaga taking up directorial duties. Some of his past notable credits include directing, writing and producing the feature film Beasts of No Nation and the HBO series True Detective.

Bond 25 Plot

We know very little information about Bond 25. The only plot synopsis we know of the project lays out that his short-lived getaway with Madeleine Swann (Seydoux) ends when CIA operative and close friend Felix Leiter comes asking for help when a new super villain comes around utilizing new dangerous technology. That super villain will be portrayed by Rami Malek.

Aside from that, we have very few details to flesh out the synopsis. Regardless, it sounds as if Daniel Craig is going to have a heavyweight fight with Rami Malek.
